1. Consult: what you do
Tell us what prompted the call: a leak, a storm, an inspection report or simply the age of the roof. If you know when the roof was last replaced, or have old paperwork, have it handy. Let us know if you have solar panels, a satellite dish on the roof or a bath fan you suspect vents into the attic, and whether you are in an HOA or community association.
2. Design: what you do
Review the written scope. It should list tear-off, decking repair handling, underlayment, flashing, ventilation, cleanup and who handles any Loudoun County permit. Ask about anything that is unclear. If you are comparing quotes, this is when to line them up.
3. Select: what you do
Choose the shingle line and color, and any replacement windows. If you are in an association, submit the application now with the manufacturer, product line and color name we give you, and wait for written approval before materials are ordered. If you have solar, contact your solar provider so its part of the work can be scheduled.
4. Build: what you do
Move cars out of the driveway, clear patio furniture and fragile items from near the house, and take down wall hangings on the top floor if you are worried about vibration. Keep children and pets away from the work area. Tear-off is the noisiest part; decking repair, if needed, happens right after it.
5. Complete: what you do
Walk the property with us, ask questions and keep the closeout paperwork with your house records. If you are in an association that wanted to see the finished roof, this is when to send photos.
